This summer, AAEF Art Center grandly launches the exhibition “Hi! Sailor Moon”, which allows visitors to appreciate the charm of the combination of classic animation and cutting-edge technology. The exhibition features over a hundred original cel animation artworks, demonstrating the masterful skills of animation artists and the timeless allure of two-dimensional art. Each piece evokes fond memories of childhood for the audience.
From “Astro Boy” pioneering a new era of Japanese TV animation in the 60s, to the emergence of Hayao Miyazaki’s works such as “Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind” and “My Neighbor Totoro” in the 80s, to the frenzy caused by “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” “Slam Dunk,” and “Detective Conan” in the 90s, and finally to the early 21st century where “One Piece” and “Pikachu” became global cultural phenomena, beloved by audiences of all ages.
The exhibition delves into the art and history behind cel animation, allowing visitors to rediscover how these precious works have withstood the test of time and continue to shine.
At the same time, AAEF Art Center is launching the avant-garde experiment “Singularity.” The newly debuted Japanese virtual idol Lilina, carrying a mission from the future, will make her appearance in present-day Shanghai. The real Lilina, the virtual Lilina, and AI Lilina will engage in dialogues with the audience, exploring the latest concepts in art and technology, providing a dual shock to the vision and the mind.
The combination of traditional and cutting-edge elements connects the evolution and fusion of animation art across different historical stages, illustrating the rebirth and future prospects of animation as an art form in the digital age.
AAEF Art Center sincerely invites you to join this nostalgic journey and engage in a face-to-face experience with the ever-evolving AI idol Lilina.
