AAEF Art Center is adjacent to Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, a water town called the “Shanghai Venice”. It is an experimental art base that focuses on investigating and researching Asian contemporary art and sorting out its cultural context. After three years of fighting COVID-19, the inaugural exhibition is held on November 11, 2023, and the trial operation officially begins.

The inaugural exhibition, a significant milestone for the AAEF Art Center, is curated by the renowned Miwa Kutsuna. It features a solo exhibition, “Stranger”, for the esteemed artist couple Ji Wenyu & Zhu Weibing. The exhibition is a testament to their artistic journey, showcasing nearly 40 pieces of two-dimensional works, installations, and video works, spanning from their collaborative creation of “soft sculptures” in 2003. Simultaneous activities include an Asia International Symposium with the theme of “Asian Live: The Current Situation and Future of Experimental Art”, which consists of Chinese, Japanese and Korean scholars as guest speakers.
